National Museum of Nepal

A popular tourist attraction in Nepal, the National museum is close to 100 years old. It is run by the government of Nepal and holds a huge collection of various weapons, pictures, art, paintings, murals, coins and sculptures that depict the fascinating story of this hilly nation. Spread over three buildings, Juddha Jayatia Kala Shala, Buddha Art Gallery and the main building which consists of natural historical section (collection of species of animals, butterflies and plants), cultural section and philatelic section.

The most famous building is the one that holds the ‚Buddha Art Gallery‚. The Buddhist Section is not to be missed because it provides interesting information about Buddhism and Buddhist art. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
