Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park

Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is situated in Wandoor at a distance of about 29 kilometers from Port Blair in Andaman. This park is a collection of 15 untouched islands with most alluring coral reefs and marine lives in the country. Created in the year 1983, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is endowed with lush, verdant mangrove cover making it a visual delight with secluded beaches acting as the feather on the hat. Most of the islands are protected, thus inaccessible; however, their coast reveals a fascinating transition from towering tropical canopies to mangroves.

Sprawling over 281 sq kilometers, the park encompasses myriad lagoons, coral reefs, rainforests, and mangrove creek. Angelfish, Giant Robber Crab, Lion or Scorpion Fish, Grouper Fish, Butterflyfishes, and Surgeon fishes are some of the endangered fish species that one can see here. Apart from fishes, one can find here a good number of reptiles, birds, and mammals. Tourists can experience imposing coral reefs through boat and snorkel and take a dip to witness the exquisite marine life.
